‘Money’ and Rice: Joshua celebrates with the stars

Anthony Joshua proved his pulling power yet again as he celebrated his win over Kubrat Pulev with boxing great Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr and football star Declan Rice.

AJ retained his IBF, WBA and WBO world heavyweight titles on Saturday when he battered the durable Bulgarian to defeat inside nine rounds at London’s SSE Arena, Wembley.

It was a dominant performance from the 31-year-0ld Watford man (now 24-1 with 22 wins inside distance). And there were some huge names on hand among the 1000-strong socially distancing crowd to watch him get it done.

Boxing great Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr – who retired in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record – had jetted in for the showdown and arrived just before fight time to watch AJ in action. Mayweather himself is preparing for a ring return on February 2020 in an exhibition match with YouTuber Logan Paul.

West Ham United and England football star Rice meanwhile made use of the fact his team had been in Premier League action on Friday night in a 2-1 victory at Leeds United. That early assignment left him free to make it to Wembley to watch Joshua’s crushing victory.

Joshua’s star power is unquestioned – he is a massive pay-per-view draw for broadcaster Sky Sports. He also has a number of lucrative endorsement deals including those with Under Armour, Hugo Boss and Beats.
