Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce eye WBO title shot

Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce are fighting for a potential shot at boxing’s biggest prize on Saturday night – the world heavyweight title.

Dubois currently sits at number 2 in the WBO (World Boxing Organisation) heavyweight rankings. The exciting 23-year-old prospect (15-0) has only mandatory contender Oleksandr Usyk above him.

The rankings mean that if Anthony Joshua were to vacate the WBO belt to chase that massive showdown with Tyson Fury, Dubois would likely face Usyk for the vacant title.

Joyce of course could take Dubois’ spot and face Usyk if he causes the upset on Saturday night. Dubois is 1/4 favourite to prevail in their massive showdown (live on BT Sport 1 HD) while Joyce is a 3/1 underdog. The bout takes place at London’s historic Church House in Westminster, and BT coverage gets under way at 1930 GMT.

Usyk (18-0) was elevated to mandatory as soon as he moved up from cruiserweight last summer, and cemented that status with a points defeat of the seasoned veteran Dereck Chisora in October.

He is pushing hard to get a shot at Joshua once the Watford man has fulfilled his IBF commitments against Kubrat Pulev in London on December 12.
