Fury vs Joshua: Eddie Hearn reveals ENORMOUS purses for heavyweight boxing superfight

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua would be the money spinner of all money spinners when it comes to fights that can be made today.

The two British superstars have come close to fighting in the past – on more than one occasion. The closest was in 2021 when they agreed a two-fight pact, with the first to take place in August of that year. Then Deontay Wilder ruined the script by forcing a third fight with Fury.

Now though we are close once again, with Joshua in line to face the winner of that Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk unification battle, set for May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fury is believed to be set to earn north of £50million for his Usyk battle, but according to Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, that figure would be obliterated should he step in the ring with AJ.

Speaking to Piers Morgan Uncensored, Hearn revealed the sort of money he believes would be on offer should this all-British blockbuster take place at last.

“Certainly you’re talking north of £100million for each guy. The richest fight ever, the biggest fight ever.”

When asked how much he would take of that massive Joshua purse, Hearn explained how things work as he rubbished Morgan’s mooted figure of 20%.

Admitting that a 10% cut is “not too dissimilar”, he explained: “As a fighter starts to become more powerful, more popular, your relationship with them extends through a longer contract.

“Don’t forget Anthony Joshua signed a lifelong contract with us, three years ago, very unique in the sport. That was the third time he has re-signed with Matchroom, which is unheard of in the sport.”
