Beterbiev vs Bivol and Hearn vs Warren supershow brings HUGE CALL from Dan Rafael

The rumours are no more and now it is for real – boxing has another incredible bill to look forward to in Riyadh on Saturday June 1.

On Monday in London the details for that Eddie Hearn vs Frank Warren 5 on 5 card were officially announced, and of course it’s a show topped by another superfight in Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol.

The Beterbiev vs Bivol light-heavyweight unification showdown does not even feature on the 5 vs 5 that pits Hearn’s Matchroom stable against Warren’s Queensberry. The card is that deep.

Hearn vs Warren fights revealed

The big headline news on Monday was confirmation that Deontay Wilder has signed with the Hearn stable for one night only – their ‘supersub’ will meet Chinese giant Zhilei Zhang in what should be an explosive confrontation.

There is another heavyweight blockbuster – potentially with the IBF title at stake – when unbeaten Croat Filip Hrgovic faces Britain’s Daniel Dubois.

Featherweight has a beauty too as the dynamic Nick ‘Wrecking’ Ball faces Raymond Ford, while at middleweight Warren’s exciting prospect Hamzah Sheeraz gets Ammo Williams. Craig Richards vs Willy Hutchinson at light-heavyweight completes a stellar card.

Dan Rafael on June 1 card

One man who is well placed to comment on just how deep this card is, was highly respected journalist Dan Rafael. The long-time ESPN boxing writer now has his own flourishing platform, and continues to be one of the most credible voices in the sport. Never afraid to tell it just how it is.

His response to Monday’s reveal was extremely positive, as he wrote on X: “No hype, just keeping it real: June 1 card with #BeterbievBivol #5vs5 bouts is deepest, most stacked show since Don King’s 90s big PPVs. Every fight is interesting & looks competitive. I tip my hat on this one to Turki Alalshikh, Top Rank, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren.”

Pretty high praise when you consider the depth of that massive ‘Day of Reckoning’ card in Saudi last December, and the Fury vs Usyk lineup for the same venue on May 18. Boxing is booming right now, we just need more popcorn.
