Exciting heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson has a next fight confirmed AND a new trainer as he looks to move up to elite status.
The 24-year-old prodigy from Ohio has been terrific so far as a profession, building up a 17-0 record in the paid ranks with 15 of those wins coming inside distance.
Now Anderson is set to move up in class for his next outing, and he’ll have a new man heading up his corner when he does.
Jared Anderson next fight
The man they call ‘Big Baby’ will lock horns with 20-1 Martin Bakole on a star-studded Los Angeles card on August 3.
Significantly for Anderson, he has a very very influential fan in the shape of Saudi Arabia General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Alalshikh – who initially wanted him to face Deontay Wilder on the big Cali show. That plan bit the dust though when Wilder was blasted out by Chinese giant Zhilei ‘Big Bang’ Zhang in Riyadh on June 1.
The Saudi-backed card – headed by Terence Crawford’s step up to 154lbs to face Israil Madrimov – has a couple of huge heavyweight fights, with Anderson vs Bakole backed up by the return of former heavyweight king Andy Ruiz Jr vs Jarrell Miller.
Jared Anderson new trainer
And so to the change in Anderson’s corner – the Top Rank phenom will now be tutored by none other than Javan ‘Sugar Hill’ Steward – who of course has headed up the corner of none other than former lineal heavyweight king Tyson Fury since 2020.
Alalshikh confirmed the change in a Twitter posted, as he wrote: “I want to thank Jared Anderson for taking my advice and seeking out to coach and trainer Sugar Hill to train him for his upcoming fight”.
