That Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou card set for March just keeps on getting better, and better, and better.
Two-time world heavyweight king Joshua (27-3) provides only the second professional boxing opponent ever for former UFC heavyweight king Francis Ngannou.
Ngannou remember excelled on debut when he took WBC heavyweight champion right to the brink before finally dropping a split decision. He had Fury on the deck in the process.
Now he fights AJ in the main event with the pair knowing that a win would give them a shot at the winner of that rescheduled Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk unification battle on May 18.
Hrgovic on AJ/Ngannou undercard
The undercard is also looking VERY tasty right now, with one fantastic heavyweight showdown confirmed as former WBO king Joseph Parker locks horns with giant Chinese star Zhilei Zhang.
Now we have ANOTHER top heavyweight added to the mix with the news that leading IBF title contender Filip Hrgovic WILL figure on the show.
As he announced that rescheduled Fury vs Usyk date, Saudi General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Alalshikh also confirmed Hrgovic (17-0 with 14 wins inside) for March 8.
Potential opponents
His Excellency says Hrgovic has six potential opponents for that date, and every single one of them would make it a mouthwatering match. They are:
Daniel Dubois (20-2): British star who made an unsuccessful challenge for Usyk’s IBF, WBA and WBO titles last August. Since then came back with an excellent stoppage win over Jarrell Miller.
Jarrell Miller: Huge American heavyweight who suffered a first professional loss in that match with Dubois on the ‘Day of Reckoning’ card in December.
Martin Bakole (20-1): Another exciting prospect. Took the unbeaten pro record of French Olympic champion Tony Yoka in 2022, and more recently stopped the durable Carlos Takam in his last outing in October 2023.
Agit Kabayel (24-0): European heavyweight king who was massively impressive in bursting the giant unbeaten bubble of huge Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov in December.
Frank Sanchez (24-0): Slick Cuban technician who is high on the ranking lists of all governing bodies. Stayed busy by stopping Junior Fa in Riyadh in December.
Jared Anderson (16-0): Exciting Top Rank prospect who appears to have it all – speed, size and power. This might be a step too far at this stage in his development, but let’s see…
