We found out the UK TV details for that Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou blockbuster a couple of days ago, and now details of just how much the pay-per-view (PPV) will cost are starting to drip through.
Both streaming platform DAZN AND pay TV behemoth Sky Sports Box Office will have rights to show the bout live in the UK on Friday March 8, as AJ bids to move one step closer to a fight against either Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk. Potentially for all of the heavyweight marbles.
So here are those all-important details, with the price depending on whether you have an existing subscription or not:
DAZN Joshua vs Ngannou PPV price
If you are NOT an existing DAZN subscriber you can buy the Joshua vs Ngannou PPV and a one-month subscription to the platform for £19.99.
If you ARE an existing DAZN subscriber, the Joshua vs Ngannou PPV will set you back £18.99.
Now of course we await for details of Sky pricing – and we would expect a similar level. Remember the cost of the UK PPV for that ‘Day of Reckoning’ card featuring Joshua and Deontay Wilder was £19.99. That after a personal plea from Turki Alalshikh to make it affordable for fight fans.
Then of course we should find out the US PPV pricing – for ‘Day of Reckoning’ it was just $39.99 but big fights in that market normally retail at around the $75 price point.
What’s at stake in Joshua vs Ngannou?
In terms of title belts, at this stage absolutely nothing. But in the bigger heavyweight boxing picture, this bout has enormous ramifications.
Turki Alalshikh wants the winner to move on to face the winner of those Fury vs Usyk unification showdowns, so a win would put either in an incredible position.
If Joshua wins here, there is talk he could move on to face Filip Hrgovic for the IBF title should it become vacant, before he gets Fury or Usyk.
Ngannou meanwhile – a veritable boxing novice – could be undisputed heavyweight champion of the world after less than a handful of fights as a professional. Astonishing stuff.
