Jake Paul continues to call out boxing’s PPV cash cow ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, and now he has PROOF that he is an even bigger draw.
‘The Problem Child’ threw down with living heavyweight legend Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington,Texas last Friday night – the palatial home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
The card, featuring that eight-round Tyson vs Paul showdown, supported by Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 2, shattered viewing records everywhere, peaking at an astounding 65million streams. It’s estimated that 60million households watched the main event, with 50million watching Taylor/Serrano 2 to make it the most viewed women’s sports event in US history.
Paul though also made some records in the arena itself, with the live gate producing a new record for any fight in Texas, and anywhere in the world outside of Las Vegas.
Another record for Jake Paul
His new ‘Lone Star State’ mark of $18.1million obliterated all previous numbers, notably those held by Mexican megastar Canelo. The highest Alvarez had produced was $9million for his win over Billy Joe Saunders, also at AT&T Stadium, back in 2021.
Paul vs. Tyson and Taylor vs. Serrano 2 had an average ticket price of $304, marking a 123% increase over the previous AT&T Stadium record held by Canelo Álvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders, which had an average ticket price of $136. In total, 72,300 fans were on hand last Friday night.
