Dillian Whyte vs. Alexander Povetkin LIVE

Whyte vs. Povetkin LIVE Blog

Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin meet tonight in boxing’s biggest fight since the sport came out of COVID-19 lockdown.

And you can follow every punch of the massive match with our special live blog, which starts at 2000 UK.

Whyte (27-1) and Povetkin (35-2-1) will meet behind closed doors at Matchroom Fight Camp in Brentwood Essex, with both their career paths on the line.

‘The Body Snatcher’ has been the mandatory contender for the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title for more than 1000 days now.

And victory against Povetkin will ensure him a crack at the title, against the winner of Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3. That fight is due to take place on Saturday December 19.

As well as the WBC interim world heavyweight title, the WBC Diamond Belt is also at stake in tonight’s bout.

Whyte looked in great shape at Friday’s weigh-in, coming in at 252lbs (18st) – some 19lbs lighter than that career-heaviest 271lbs for his last bout – a points victory over Poland’s Mariusz Wach in Saudi Arabia last December.

Povetkin meanwhile – a former Olympic champion and world heavyweight champion – looked trim as he tipped the scales at 224lbs (16st) – 5lbs lighter than for his draw against Michael Hunter.

While Whyte vs Povetkin is very much the main event, there is also another sensational matchup prior to that as Ireland’s world lightweight champion Katie Taylor rematches Belgium’s Delfine Persoon.

The pair produced a sensational fight at Madison Square Garden last June when Taylor prevailed by a controversial decision after an absolute slugfest.

Tonight’s bill will be televised live on Sky Sports Box Office pay-per-view in the UK with a price of £19.95, while DAZN will stream the bout to subscribers in a total of nine markets – the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland.
