“All day long” – Frank Warren on Fury vs Wilder 3

Frank Warren believes Tyson Fury has the beating of Deontay Wilder “all day long” as the two prepare for their long-awaited trilogy fight in Las Vegas on Saturday July 24.

Fury vs Wilder 3 will finally happen around one year after it was supposed to – courtesy of that arbitration ruling won by ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

That ruling of course scuppered the plan for Fury to meet Anthony Joshua on August 14 – and now ‘The Gypsy King’ must get past Wilder again before the biggest fight in British boxing history can be made.

Fury drew his first meeting against Wilder in 2018 before handing the American a first professional defeat in their Las Vegas rematch in 2020. Warren expects more of the same next month, but knows that his man must not take anything for granted against the biggest puncher in boxing’s marquee weight class.

Warren on Fury vs Wilder 3

He told BT Sport Boxing: “Tyson can’t afford to be complacent. Wilder’s with a new trainer, who’s not a tried and tested trainer by the way, Malik Scott. I just look at his age (Wilder is now 35), and I think to myself what he can do different.

“Can he outbox Tyson? No. Can he outpunch Tyson? He’s a very dangerous and big puncher but Tyson’s been on the floor twice in the first fight and got up – came back winning the round in the 12th round.

“Can he take Tyson’s power? No, Tyson stopped him and had him all over the place in the last fight. He can’t outbox him. Is he gonna turn into a great boxer? I don’t know, I don’t think so. But he’s a dangerous puncher and Tyson can’t afford to be complacent.”

Fury is trading as a 2/7 favourite to beat Wilder again and Warren clearly agrees with those odds – he’s convinced Tyson has the upper hand in this particular trilogy.

All day long – Warren verdict

“Me, I think Tyson has got his number. I think he had his number in the first fight when he got robbed. He certainly proved in the ssecond fight what he was made of.

“I really don’t see what Deontay, other than coming out with one of those explosive bombs, other than that I don’t see how he can beat Tyson.

“I think Tyson is the best heavyweight out there and I do believe all day long he has the beating of Deontay Wilder.”
