An incredible 2024 boxing calendar now has ANOTHER incredible fight, with Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia apparently CONFIRMED.
Per Mike Coppinger of ESPN, the two superstars have agreed a deal to meet in Las Vegas on Saturday April. Imagine that, a major fight that is NOT taking place in Saudi Arabia in 2024!
Now the talk and bluster is over between the two men, for Haney a meeting with PPV darling Garcia is the perfect way to continue his rise towards pound-for-pound superstardom.
Devin (now 31-0 with 15 KOs) moved up from lightweight to super-lightweight for his December showdown with Regis Prograis in San Francisco – and duly claimed the WBC belt with a comprehensive decision win – 120-107 on all three cards.
Haney will put that WBC belt on the line vs Garcia (24-1), who suffered his first career defeat in that blockbuster against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis last April. He has since returned to action to stop Oscar Duarte in early December.
Haney vs Garcia AND Gervonta vs Benn?
A Haney vs Garcia match in Vegas in April could mean an astonishing month of action in what used to be the world’s fight capital.
Only earlier this week, Eddie Hearn said he was making an official offer to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis to fight his man Conor Benn in what would be a mouthwatering match in April. Again the smart money is on that being in the United States, and likely Las Vegas.
