That much-hyped Eddie Hearn vs Frank Warren showdown card in Saudi Arabia now has a date and AN INCREDIBLE MAIN EVENT.
Turki Alalshikh sent the boxing world into a frenzy in January when he challenged the two promoters – such bitter rivals in the past – to lock horns pitting their respective stables in a 5 vs 5 bill.
We had been told the date for that bill would be revealed in fight week leading up to that Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou blockbuster on March 8. But it came much earlier than that.
Alalshikh – Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority – made the big reveal as he confirmed the rescheduled May 18 date for that Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk showdown.
Beterbiev vs Bivol confirmed
Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour, he said it will take place on Saturday June 1, AND that it will have an unbelievable cherry on the cake – a spectacular main event.
The fight in question will be that long-awaited Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol light-heavyweight unification showdown.
The 20-0 Beterbiev will put his IBF, WBC and WBO titles on the line against WBA king Bivol (22-0) in what should be a showdown for the ages.
The fights pitting Hearn vs Warren fighters should still be announced in the countdown to that Joshua vs Ngannou date in March.
