Parker vs Chisora 2 set for December 18

Joseph Parker vs Dereck Chisora is a reality – the two heavyweights will do it all again on Saturday December 18.

The pair produced an entertaining scrap in May of this year when Parker pulled out a wafer-thin split decision after being on the canvas just seven seconds into proceedings at Manchester Arena.

The rematch, which will again take place at the Manchester venue, will be streamed live globally by DAZN, with the exception of New Zealand and Samoa.

Parker chasing another title shot

Parker (29-2 with 21 knockouts) is still chasing another world-title shot after losing his WBO title in a one-sided points defeat by Anthony Joshua in Cardiff. Parker is still ranked highly by the WBO – he sits at #3 with only Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce ahead of him. Usyk gets to challenge for AJ’s title at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 25.

Chisora though (32-11 with 23 wins inside distance) represents a tough gatekeeper in the heavyweight division – still a test for just about anybody at the age of 37. Even before that stout showing against Parker, he had given the aforementioned Usyk a stern examination before dropping a decision in October 2020.

Heavyweight title shake-up?

The heavyweight title picture could face a big shake-up in the next month – or we could be heading for a massive unification showdown.

That depends on whether Tyson Fury and Joshua can come through their respective assignments against Deontay Wilder and Usyk respectively. Fury vs Wilder 3 happens in Las Vegas on October 9 – two weeks after that Joshua vs Usyk cracker.
