Taylor vs Catterall 2 POSTPONED and new date CONFIRMED after Scottish star injured

That eagerly-awaited Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall 2 rematch will have to wait a little bit longer after their April 27 date was postponed on Thursday.

The news emerged in the early evening that Taylor (19-1) has suffered an injury during training camp and will not be able to fulfil that planned date.

Matchroom Boxing announced though that a rescheduled date has already been confirmed – Saturday May 25 at the same venue – the First Direct Arena in Leeds, England (live on DAZN).

The wait goes on

By the time the two warriors get into the ring now it will be some 27 months since their controversial meeting in Glasgow. On that stormy night, Catterall (28-1) appeared to have bossed things in the eyes of most pundits, but lost a hotly disputed decision.

The spice and beef is very much still there some two years on, as clearly referenced during the tumultuous press tour the pair engaged in to announce the fight earlier this year.

Ticket details

Tickets remain valid for the revised date with refunds for the sold-out event, in line with the terms and conditions of Matchroom’s ticket agency partners.

Peter McGrail’s rematch with Ja’Rico O’Quinn will now take place on April 27 at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool. Full details for this NXTGEN event will be announced by Matchroom in due course.
