Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte is the biggest fight of 2022 so far, and the countdown began on Tuesday with the first officially press conference to announce the bout.
‘The Gypsy King’ (31-0-1) and ‘The Body Snatcher’ (28-2) did not come face to face in London though, less than two months before their big showdown. Instead while Fury and his co-promoter Frank Warren faced the media, Whyte stayed at his training camp in Portugal.
So it was Fury who was left to carry the show, and carry it he did. To find out just how, click on the video embed below to watch the whole press conference.

The big fight will go down at Wembley Stadium on Saturday April 23, with Fury’s WBC, Ring magazine and lineal world heavyweight titles all on the line.
For Whyte it is the culmination of years of patiently waiting for a title shot, and now the moment of reckoning is at last here.
Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions beat Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom in the purse bid to stage the bout – putting forward an offer of more than $41million. Fury is guaranteed more than $29million with Whyte set to pocket more than $7million and the remaining $4million going to the winner.
Fury vs Whyte a PPV attraction
The fight will be a pay-per-view in the UK on BT Sport Box Office, while ESPN (with whom Fury has a contract in the United States) will have the rights Stateside.
The trash talk between the two men has already been spicy in recent months and years with Whyte desperate for a crack at Fury’s title. And that ramped up recently as Fury told his would-be opponent to get the contract signed for their eagerly-awaited match.
In the end the drama continued right up to the 11th hour as Whyte signed just before the deadline last Monday. Now we wait for the fun and games to really begin, and that starts today at that press conference. Tickets remember go on sale on Wednesday at noon UK time.
