‘The Body Snatcher’ returns on Saturday October 30 when Dillian Whyte vs Otto Wallin headlines a big Matchroom show at the 02 in London (live worldwide on DAZN).
Whyte (28-2 with 19 knockouts) has not been out since destroying the now-retired Alexander Povetkin in their rematch on Gibraltar. He had been knocked out by Povetkin in their first meeting in August 2020.
It had been thought Dillian would have his next fight in the United States, but that didn’t happen and now he will return with a trick assignment against Swedish star Wallin (22-1 with 14 wins inside distance).
Wallin gave Fury a big scare
Wallin remember gave Tyson Fury all he could handle in a Las Vegas showdown in September 2019. He opened a gruesome cut over Fury’s eye early in their non-title bout, and ‘The Gypsy King’ had to fight hard to claim a unanimous decision.
Since that night, the 30-year-old Wallin has registered victories over Travis Kauffman and Dominic Breazeale, and gets his chance to show he can hang at the highest level when he faces Whyte.
As for Dillian, he is still chasing that elusive world title shot – he was the WBC’s mandatory contender before he suffering that shocking fifth-round knockout at the hands of Povetkin at Matchroom Fight Camp.
Heavyweight title picture
The rematch victory on Gibraltar saw Whyte regain the WBC interim title, but he remains on the outside looking in when it comes to the title picture.
Current title holder Fury puts the WBC strap on the line on October 9 in a trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas. Two weeks before that, on September 25, Anthony Joshua defends his IBF, WBA and WBO titles against Oleksandr Usyk in London.
As well as announcing Whyte vs Wallin, Matchroom and DAZN have also lined up a rematch between Joseph Park and Dereck Chisora for Saturday December 18. Parker claimed a decision in their first meeting back in May.
