Upcoming boxing fights: Heavyweights
Here is how the heavyweight division currently looks from a scheduling perspective:
Dave Allen (25-8-2) vs Filip Hrgovic (19-1)
Date: Saturday May 16, 2026
Ring walks: 2200 UK, 1700 ET, 1400 PT
Venue: Doncaster, England
TV: DAZN
Odds: 1/6 Hrgovic, 4/1 Allen, 16/1 Draw
The popular Allen gets a fantastic homecoming bout in Doncaster in front of a huge local crowd, against the Croatian giant Hrgovic. For ‘The White Rhino’ this is something of a legacy fight, a nice money spinner and the chance to fight in front of his home fans. For Hrgovic it’s a crossroads fight, in truth every one is now. He cannot afford to fail as he looks to punch his way back to heavyweight boxing’s top table. Once seen as a legitimate title contender, he is now on the fringes and will need to be impressive here.
Oleksandr Usyk (24-0) vs Rico Verhoeven (1-0)
Date: Saturday May 23, 2026
Ring walks: 2200 UK, 1700 ET, 1400 PT
Venue: Giza, Egypt
TV: DAZN
Odds: 1/20 Usyk, 14/1 Verhoeven, 33/1 Draw
In a somewhat stunning development, Usyk will defend his WBC heavyweight title against a kickboxing great who has fought just once as a professional boxer. And that was 12 years ago in 2014. Instead of locking horns with Deontay Wilder, Usyk will risk his stellar reputation in what on paper is a mismatch of epic proportions. And having the WBC title on the line (can anybody fight for this belt?) makes it all the more stunning, and dangerous, for the Ukrainian. What next for the sport of boxing?
Anthony Joshua (29-4) vs Kristian Prenga (20-1)
Date: Saturday July 25, 2026
Ring walks: 2200 UK, 1700 ET, 1400 PT
Venue: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
TV: DAZN
Odds: –
Joshua’s team are taking no risks here as their man warms up for that Q4 blockbuster vs Tyson Fury. Prenga’s 20-1 record (with all wins inside distance) may look impressive at first glance, but look deeper and there is little of note. This should be a routine assignment for Britain’s two-time world heavyweight champion, he is effectively taking on a club fighter. Better not fumble the bag with a £100million payday waiting for him against Fury.
