The name Moses Itauma is already whispered in reverential terms in boxing circles, and the young heavyweight sensation made short work of his latest test when he faced Dan Garber in London (live on TNT Sports).
The 19-year-old prodigy has already been described as the division’s ‘next big thing’ by his Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren, and he showed his limitless potential again with a first-round victory over the Yorkshireman Garber to improve his pro record to 8-0 with six wins inside distance.

The writing was quickly on the wall for Garber as the first 30 seconds showed clear and worrying signs of what was to come. Itauma darting that ramrod jab through his defences to set up a blistering left hand.
Itauma blasts out Garber
The exciting Kent southpaw quickly started to go throw his full repertoire of dazzling skills, landing a lovely right uppercut and mixing in classy combinations.
By the halfway stage of the opening session it looked very doubtful whether Garber would hear the bell, and he was in clear survival mode against the ropes as Itauma teed off. When he did venture forward he was invariably tagged with left-hand counters from Itauma.
The end finally came with 38 seconds remaining in Round 1, with Garber yet again pinned against the ropes as the devastating Itauma unloaded a flurry of blistering punches. The bout was waved off to save Garber from further punishment.
Okay, the opposition might not have been elite level here, but Itauma continues to really look the part. Tales of his sparring prowess are now a thing of legend within the fight game, and he is STILL ONLY 19 years of age.
To say the future is bright would be an understatement, and he has no better boxing minds to guide his development in the shape of Warren and the Queensberry team. They have a young man who would well be a ready-made successor one day to a certain Tyson Fury. Get the popcorn…
