There are two British heavyweight stars riding high in the latest WBO world heavyweight rankings – but they are not named Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua.
With Fury currently retired, and AJ recovering from an injury, it is Moses Itauma and Fabio Wardley who are in the thick of the title mix as we go deeper into 2025.
Itauma, still only 20, is the most exciting thing to hit the division since Joshua turned pro. He has roared to an 11-0 pro record (with 9 wins inside distance) ahead of his next fight vs American Mike Balogun in Glasgow on Saturday May 24.
Two weeks after that, Wardley (18-0-1) gets his dream fight when the childhood Ipswich Town fan meets giant American man mountain Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller at their Portman Road stadium. Both bouts will air live on DAZN in the UK and the US.
Itauma is just leading the way in the rankings, currently sitting at #2, with Wardley right behind him at #3. The title of course is currently held by the great Oleksandr Usyk (23-0) with the revitalised Joseph Parker (36-3) the mandatory challenger and interim champ.

Anthony Joshua WBO latest
Joshua (28-4) is still ranked by the WBO, seven months on from his last fight – that devastating knockout defeat by Daniel Dubois when he challenged for the IBF world heavyweight title at Wembley last September.
Veteran British star Dereck Chisora is in the WBO rankings at #8 while ‘The Romford Bull’ Johnny Fisher features at 12 ahead of his rematch vs Dave Allen in London next month (live on DAZN).

Who are the current world heavyweight champions?
Dubois of course is the reigning IBF king after that dominant beatdown of Joshua in his first defence of the title last September.
Usyk holds all of the other titles after those back-to-back decision wins over Fury in 2024. He is the WBC, WBA, WBO, Ring magazine and lineal champion.
