Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul is ON as ‘Problem Child’ confirms december megafight

Its happening, Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul is officially ON after ‘The Problem Child’ confirmed a December showdown with Britain’s two-time world heavyweight champion.

Boxing went into meltdown last Wednesday with the news that the two men were in talks about a December 19 superfight at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. To be streamed globally by Netflix.

Today (Monday) we got official confirmation that the fight is a go, with Paul revealing the news on his social media channels. This is an actual heavyweight too – no exhibitions – over 8 x 3-minute rounds with both fighters wearing 10oz gloves.

The Youtuber turned fighter has built a 12-1 pro record fighting an assortment of former boxers, former MMA stars and social media personalities. His showdown with 58-year-old former heavyweight king Mike Tyson drew 108m viewers on Netflix in November 2024.

Biggest payday ever for AJ

Joshua is set to make his biggest payday ever (potentially up to £70m if reports are true) for a fight which arguably carries the least possible risk. Paul, while taking his move into the fight game seriously, was beaten by Tommy Fury. That’s Tommy, not Tyson.

While some fight fans and most analysts will hate the fight (we are not keen on it ourselves), why wouldn’t AJ accept a challenge that gives him an enormous purse for a pretty low risk.

We already know what the 2026 plan is for Joshua. A tune-up fight in February before that long-awaited showdown vs Tyson Fury later in the year.

As of know Fury is retired of course, with Saudi power broker Turki Alalshikh making it his mission to change that and entice ‘The Gypsy King’ back for one last money-spinning dance.
