Dillian Whyte appears to be set for a massive fight in August after pulling out of his intended engagement on Saturday’s Fabio Wardley vs Justis Huni card in Ipswich (live on DAZN).
‘The Body Snatcher’, now 37 years old, had been expected to feature on a card which is topped by a fighter he manages in the shape of the exciting world-ranked Wardley. But promoter Frank Warren revealed on Wednesday that there has now been a change of plan.

Now Instead of an undercard fight against a lower-level fighter, Whyte is now targeting a much bigger engagement in the summer, which will take priority.

Warren confirms Whyte plan
Warren told BoxNation: He’s not gonna be on the card now. He’s had the opportunity of a big, big fight in August we’re looking at the moment at getting that over the line. It’s a big, big fight for him and that takes priority. He wants that, he wants the bigger fight than he would be getting if he was fighting in Ipswich, so that’s what is gonna happen. It’s a really big fight.”
Whyte (31-3) fought his way to the brink of world title just three years ago – challenging Tyson Fury for the WBC, Ring magazine and lineal titles in front of almost 100,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. But he appeared to freeze on the big occasion and was stopped inside six rounds by ‘The Gypsy King’ after a one-sided fight.
Since then Dillian has fought just three times, outpointing durable American Jermaine Franklin before scoring inside-the-distance successes over Christian Hammer and Ebenezer Tetteh.
Whyte has been mentioned as a possible opponent for Anthony Joshua when the two-time world heavyweight champion makes his return from an elbow injury. But this mooted August date would appear to be too soon for that with AJ still recovering from surgery last month.
