Itauma vs Balogun results, scorecards and analysis

Moses Itauma once again showcased his unbelievable heavyweight boxing potential with a devastating demolition job on American Mike Balogun in Glasgow on Saturday night.

The incredible 20-year-old phenom from Kent, England was spectacular as he destroyed the former NFL linebacker inside two rounds on the Josh Taylor vs Ekow Essuman undercard.

The man they call ‘Enriko’ improved to 12-0 with another exhibition of awesome speed and power which left the 41-year-old Balogun (now 21-2) with no answers.

Itauma power too much

Moses came out with bad intentions right from the start, using the first minute of proceedings to establish that lightning ramrod right jab, putting Balogun on the back foot immediately.

Itauma moved up a gear midway through the session, detonating three massive left hands in quick succession to send Balogun to the canvas for the first time on the night. Somehow the American beat the count, and gamely survived to hear the bell.

The end would not be long coming though, and it did courtesy of Itauma’s ‘weaker’ hand in the early seconds of Round 2. Twice within a matter of seconds he unleashed incredible right hooks off the back foot to once more send Balogun to the canvas. The second shot was a thing of beauty, and it had the fight being waved off almost before his opponent had hit the canvas.

Once more it was a mind-blowing illustration of the tantalising potential Itauma possesses, and now we await his next outing with eager anticipation.

Next fight for Moses?

The post-fight chat suggested Itauma could appear again swiftly on the Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2 undercard at Wembley Stadium on Saturday July 19.

Potential opponents for some stage later this year appear to include the likes of Martin Bakole and Filip Hrgovic, both of whom would represent a step up in class for the Kent phenom.
