Itauma vs Whyte results, scorecards and analysis – the hype is ABSOLUTELY FOR REAL

The Moses Itauma hype is ABSOLUTELY FOR REAL after the 20-year-old heavyweight sensation blasted out Dillian Whyte inside a round in Riyadh on Saturday night.

This young man from Chatham in Kent (now 13-0 with 11 wins inside distance) is seen by so many experts as the future of the heavyweight division, and every time he steps into a boxing ring he leaves the purists absolutely drooling.

This was supposed to be a big step up against a former world title challenger, but it last just a couple of minutes as Itauma produced another sizzling performance to destroy the 37-year-old ‘Body Snatcher’.

Whyte (31-4) had clearly taken this very seriously, coming in at his lightest for 10 years, he was prepared to the minute for what was always going to be a challenge. But he had no answer when it came to taking the punches thrown by the mighty Itauma.

Itauma is incredible

The first minute was relatively circumspect but Itauma – who had been kept waiting for six minutes in the ring by his opponent before the start – immediately looked very sharp as he mixed his shots to the head and body of Whyte.

Shortly after the minute mark Itauma started to really open up more, stiffening the legs of Whyte with a couple of big left hands to the head. Dillian was in big trouble and as he lay on the ropes Itauma landed a lovely right hook which sent his opponent crashing to the canvas.

Whyte tried to get to his feet to beat the count but his legs were shot and Swedish referee Mikael Hook waved it off to end another spectacular Itauma supershow. It was quite incredible stuff and the official time was just one minute and 59 seconds.

What next for Moses?

Now of course the talk will all be about what is next for Itauma, who despite his tender years looks a quite sensational prospect.

Itauma is already ranked number 1 by the WBO (World Boxing Organization), and could be in line for a title shot against Joseph Parker immediately if Oleksandr Usyk decides to vacate rather than face Parker.

As for Usyk himself, Turki Alalshikh believes a Usyk vs Itauma fight is the one that boxing wants right now, and who could disagree.
