Was it one final attempt to sell a superfight? Or has Jake Paul finally lost the plot?
The 28-year-old ‘Problem Child’ will earn north of £50million in Miami on Friday night when he takes on his ‘craziest’ challenge yet – an actual heavyweight fight vs two-time world champion Anthony Joshua.
Paul (12-1 as a pro with 7 knockouts) is a 6/1 underdog for the big fight, which will stream live globally on Netflix, but you can add a zero to that as far as we are concerned. The gulf in size and class is so big that many experts fear for Jake’s physical safety.

Joshua tipped the scales at 243lbs (17st 5lbs) – two pounds under the stipulated 245 limit he contractually agreed to. It also ensured he avoided a heavy fine. Jake meanwhile weighed in at 217lbs (15st 7lbs) – almost two stones lighter than his British opponent.

It was what happened after Jake had officially had his weight called out which had us interested though, as he screamed his way through a weird little pre-fight message. Here is is, in full:
“Absolutely dialled. You listen to me brother. When the ring bells I’m coming in there and I’m coming on his ass.
“You know who I are. I are him.”
Quite incredible stuff – if the stunning upset does happen Friday night in Miami, we imagine ‘I are him’ T-shirts will be doing a roaring trade over the Christmas season.
For now though we just have to wait another 24 hours to find out what actually will go down inside the ring. Remember, the fight is free to existing Netflix subscribers.
