Moses Itauma, heavyweight boxing’s next big thing, is back this week – why you should watch this stunning phenom

Things like this don’t come around very often, once again it is Moses Itauma fight week.

On Saturday night in Glasgow, Scotland the most exciting thing in boxing’s heavyweight division makes his return to fight for the first time in 2025, and again it should be box office.

The 20-year-old from Chatham, Kent has the experts drooling in anticipation every time he steps through the ropes, and this weekend will be no different.

Itauma has built an 11-0 pro record and might be the most spectacular thing to hit the sport’s marquee weight class since a certain Mike Tyson back in the 1980s. He is potentially that good.

On Saturday night we get to see him again, savour every moment. Here is why, and how, you should watch.

Why is Itauma so good?

Quite simply he appears to have everything you would want in a young heavy:

  • Devastating power – 9 of those 11 victories have come inside the first round. If you want a chilling example of that power, check out his last fight – an incredible one-round demolition job on tough, world-ranked Australian Demsey McKean. Stunning.
  • Speed – Itauma aligns that power with quickness. For a big man he unloads with unbelievable rapidity, and opponents are on their backs before they know it. Frightening stuff.
  • Ring IQ – For one so young, Moses is remarkably mature when it comes to this key category. He knows what he is doing in there. We haven’t seen him on the back foot yet, but the signs are he’ll be able to handle it if that day does come.

  • Personality – Put simply, Itauma is level-headed and nothing seems to phase him. The lights are never too bright and he does not let the big time get ahead of him. Ego and fame will not be an issue it appears.
  • Team – Moses is quick to point out the value and importance of the team around him. He has Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren plotting his future career path, and top trainer Ben Davison working on gameplans inside the ropes. He could not be in better hands.
