Moses Itauma next fight update as Frank Warren reveals latest on British heavyweight phenom

It is less than two weeks since Moses Itauma provided the latest example of his tantalising potential, but already the boxing world is getting withdrawal symptoms.

The 20-year-old from Chatham in Kent is the most exciting thing to hit the heavyweight division since ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson was filling opponents with dread in the 1980s.

Itauma has amassed a 12-0 professional record so far with 10 of those wins coming inside the first two rounds. His highlight reel is quick incredible and the latest example came on May 2024 when he blasted out American Mike Balogun inside two rounds in Glasgow.

Next up Itauma is expected to feature on the undercard of that Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2 world title heavyweight title unification blockbuster at Wembley Stadium on Saturday July 19.

Promoter Frank Warren and his Queensberry Promotions team are desperate to get Itauma much-needed rounds to help provide the brilliant youngster with the experience he needs to move up to elite level.

Warren on Itauma opponent

It is now hoped an announcement on his opponent is imminent, with Warren telling BoxNation: “I know i keep saying it but I don’t think we’re far off announcing something this week for him. We’re working very hard on the fight and it will be a meaningful fight for him.”

Potential opponents mooted for Itauma include the talented Swede Otto Wallin and durable American Jermaine Franklin. There has also been much talk of a potential showdown with Martin Bakole, but it appears unlikely that will happen in the short term.

Itauma, who mixes devastating power and speed with remarkable maturity and ring IQ for one so young, is already ranked #1 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and is expected to be knocking at the door for a title shot in the coming months.
