Taylor vs Catterall 2 odds: Who is favourite for MASSIVE grudge match?

The build-up to Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall 2 is only three days old – and already we cannot wait for Saturday April 27 – but what do the odds tell us about this mouthwatering showdown?

It is pretty much exactly two years since Taylor (19-1) claimed the most controversial of split-decision victories over Catterall (28-1) – winning a fight many thought he had lost.

The aftermath was awash with acrimony, with Taylor revealing this week how his family suffered shocking abuse. No surprise then that there would be fireworks when the two men came face to face again this week.

So it proved as the press conferences in Edinburgh on Monday and Manchester on Tuesday both provided some popcorn-worthy moments – watched by passionate crowds in both cities.

That just built the hype even more for what should be an all-British blockbuster at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. But who is favourite to come out on top on April 27?

Latest Taylor vs Catterall 2 odds

Not surprisingly the betting is very very close right now – it is virtually a pick em fight.

Despite that though we have a consensus favourite in Taylor. The man with the better career resume, and the win in that first fight.

Josh is generally anything between 4/5 and 4/7 to win the bout with Catterall the underdog at anything from 11/10 out to 7/5.

You might think Catterall is the value here, and the punters seem to think so in the early exchanges. The Chorley man had been as big as 7/4 when the fight was announced last week.

What’s at stake in this fight?

No title belts, but perhaps something way more than that. A path to glory vs an uncertain future.

Taylor lost his last outing – his first professional defeat – to Teofimo Lopez last June. Before that of course he’d failed to impress in squeaking past Catterall. Another loss here, and the future at the very highest level starts to come into doubt. A win and those superfights up at 147lbs might start to become reality.

For Catterall, arguably, the stakes might be even higher. If he fails to settle the score with Taylor, will he ever be able to get into the world title reckoning?

Whatever happens on April 27 (and before), it will be thrilling to watch. It feels like a throwback fight – and we cannot wait…
