As so many boxing experts expected, Tyson Fury comeback season is upon us once again.
‘The Gypsy King’ announced in January 2025 that he was leaving the sport (not for the first time) on the back of the second of two agonising defeats by unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury (34-2-1) lost not only his WBC and lineal world heavyweight titles in his first meeting with the Ukrainian genius, he also lost any aura of invincibility. Why not at least spend some time with his beautiful family, enjoy the fruits of all his hard work, and consider whether he really did want to do this any more.

The Morecambe man unquestionably still has plenty in the tank though, and now it appears he is ready to go again with all those comeback hints now turning into something a whole lot more concrete – courtesy of Saudi money man Turki Alalshikh.
The Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority has breathed new life into the noble art – and particularly its marquee weight class, the heavyweight division.
The biggest fights ARE now happening (not one but two x Fury vs Usyk blockbusters being the perfect illustration) and they are coming thick and fast. And Alalshikh is keen to bring more, and having Fury back at the table just adds to the glamour and potential.
Now we have some confirmation that the British superstar will return to the ring, with Alalshikh announcing on his social media channels that “The ‘Gypsy King’ will be back!!! I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026… We have a rabbit to hunt!”
Fury next fights
Fury has fought so many big fights, so many top heavyweights – who is left and what is left to achieve? It appears there are two main targets.
Alalshikh talking ‘rabbit hunting’ clearly suggests that a trilogy match vs Usyk is absolutely on Fury’s agenda – avenging those two close points defeats is clearly something he is desperate to do. Fury also said recently that he wants to fight Usyk (23-0) in England – imagine that in front of a 95,000 crowd at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Fury vs Joshua at last?
The one big fight that Fury absolutely has not managed to land yet (not for the want of trying) is that long-awaited all-British blockbuster vs Anthony Joshua. The pair remember signed a two-fight deal back in 2021, but that was scuppered by Deontay Wilder winning an arbitration ruling to force a third fight with Fury.
Now there are no barriers to a Fury vs Joshua showdown – no sanctioning bodies or belts to muddy the waters. Neither man holds a world heavyweight title, both are coming off defeats. So what is stopping it?

Well until now two big things in 2025 – Fury being retired for one, and Joshua rehabbing an elbow injury which recently required surgery. AJ is expected to fight again later this year, while Fury it appears is now coming back.
So that would be the dream for Fury fans – Fury vs Joshua later this year, a win over his big British rival and then maybe another Usyk blockbuster in 2026. Again for all of the heavyweight marbles.
