Boxing promoters and beef, they go together like steak and chips. A match made in heaven, and Eddie Hearn vs Oscar De La Hoya is often one of the dishes of the day.
British behemoth Hearn has made major moves in the US market since signing that landmark $1billion deal with streaming platform DAZN back in 2018. The latest moves include the signings of top Stateside stars Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Shakur Stevenson this year.

De La Hoya has often critical of Hearn and his stature in boxing’s biggest market, despite the relationship appearing amicable in person.
‘The Golden Boy’ has also been extremely vocal about his dislike for PPV cash cow Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, who he promoted for much of his glittering career. It was a relationship which ended in acrimony, in a courtroom. Now ‘Canelo’ of course is a promotional free agent.
Hearn was asked about his relationship with De La Hoya during the preliminaries for Canelo’s big showdown vs Edgar Berlanga in Las Vegas on Saturday night (live on Amazon Prime Video and DAZN PPV).
Eddie Hearn on De La Hoya
He told IFL TV: “I don’t really dislike anyone. Oscar De La Hoya winds me up a bit sometimes. He’s been non-stop, it’s a little bit snidey. I would rather you come up to me and stick it on me, say ‘I don’t f***ing like you’.

“Oscar will come up to me and hug me. In my opinion he doesn’t wanna work with anybody, Oscar. That’s what I believe. He spends his whole life slating Canelo Alvarez where he should be pushing his own fighters.

“He’s got a big platform, this ‘Clapback Thursday’ or whatever it is. Talk about Zepeda, talk about ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, talk about whatever. But you’re going on about Canelo Alvarez.
“But he’s not really my cup of tea at the moment, Oscar De La Hoya.”
