Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn WILL happen tonight (Saturday April 26) after more drama on the scales just hours before the big fight.
The weights for this one have been a massive talking point ever since the bout was first scheduled for late 2022, with Conor a career welterweight (147lbs) and Eubank Jr having fought up at super-middleweight (168lbs).
Officially tonight’s blockbuster at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is set at middleweight (160lbs) but Eubank Jr could not even make that number at the official weigh-in on Friday night. He came in over the limit at 160.05lbs with Conor scaling 156.4lbs. That mistake reportedly cost him a fine of £375,000 – not small change.

There was one final hurdle to get over for the two fighters this morning as they were weighed again as the contracts for this bout contain a rehydration clause – neither must be over 170lbs on fight day.

Eubank Jr under the limit
Based on Friday’s events, it looked like being under 170 would be a mighty task for Eubank Jr, but he managed it – just.
Chris Jr came in at 169.4lbs with Conor well under at 165. So we have a fight and Eubank Jr avoids another massive fine.
Now the big question will be whether a brutal weight cut has weakened Eubank Jr, and whether that gives Conor the edge tonight.
In a few short hours, we will find out – ring walks are scheduled for 2200 local time (2300 CET, 1700 Eastern, 1400 Pacific) and you can watch the bout live on DAZN PPV or Sky Sports Box Office.
