The build-up to this fight has been dominated by bizarre and worrying behaviour from ‘King Ryan’ – so much so that many fans even questioned whether the fight would go ahead.

The press conference did happen this week and the weigh-in delivered yet more ridiculous drama, so it appears we are actually all set for the big PPV show.

We expect ring walks for the main event to start shortly after 11pm local time (Eastern Standard Time). That is 4am on Sunday April 21 if you are in the UK, or 5am if you are watching in Central Europe. If you’re on the West Coast, ring walks for Haney vs Garcia should be just after 8pm PST.
Latest betting odds
This is a massive match with two high-profile fighters. But it is not particularly close in terms of the betting.
Haney opened up a firm 2/9 favourite with Garcia a 9/2 underdog. The Draw – if you really like the chances of some major controversy – was a 20/1 shot.
But that bizarre behaviour from Garcia has seen the odds move in a MAJOR way. Devin is now a 1/8 favourite with Garcia now 13/2 and the Draw a 25/1 shot. This is a huge change…
Haney vs Garcia weights
The weigh-in for Haney vs Garcia took place in Brooklyn on Friday – and it provided more craziness.
Garcia weighed in an astonishing 3lbs OVER the 140lb limit – tipping the scales at 143.2lbs. Haney meanwhile was right on the button at 140lbs.
Garcia will pay Haney a forfeit as a result of missing weight – reportedly up to $1.5million ($500,000 per pound). And the fight will still go ahead.
Ryan though will not be able to win Haney’s world title even if he emerges victorious on Saturday.
Devin Haney record
Devin Haney, born in San Francisco on November 17, 1998 and now 25 years old, has a perfect professional record of 31-0 with 15 wins coming inside distance. He stands 5ft 8ins tall (1.73m) and has a reach of 71ins.
Haney is know for his brilliant boxing ability, giving Floyd Mayweather Jr vibes with his technical skills and defensive mastery. It’s not often Haney gets hit, and he then dominates on the scorecards despite not being a concussive knockout puncher.
Devin is now a two-weight world champion, having ruled at lightweight before moving up to 140lbs to take the WBC title from Regis Prograis with an easy points decision last December.
His biggest career wins have come in his most recent fights, with the success over Prograis plus a decision against the great Vasiliy Lomachenko and back-to-back wins over George Kambosos Jr in Australia.
Ryan Garcia record
Ryan Garcia, born in Victorsville, California on August 8, 1998, is now 25 years old and he has a professional record of 24-1 with 20 of those victories coming inside distance. He stands 5ft 8.5ins tall (1.74m) and has a reach of 70ins.
Garcia has yet to win a recognised world title, but he has become a major attraction due to his exciting style which means he is a threat to knock an opponent out, and be knocked out. He has always been seen as the successor to his promoter – former PPV king Oscar De La Hoya.
Ryan’s only defeat so far came last April when he was knocked out by Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in that monstrous PPV showdown in Las Vegas last April. His only outing then was a knockout win over Oscar Duarte Jurado in Houston in December.
What is at stake in Haney vs Garcia?
Haney’s newly-acquired WBC world super-lightweight title will be on the line in this one.
Haney vs Garcia undercard
The Haney vs Garcia undercard is topped by undefeated, top 8 super lightweight world title contender Arnold Barboza Jr. (29-0, 11 KOs). He will fight for the WBO Intercontinental Title against Belfast, Ireland’s Sean “The Public Nuisance” McComb (18-1, 5 KOs). Babroza Jr. is coming off of an eighth-round knockout victory last January 2024 against Xolisani Ndongeni. The 10-round super lightweight fight will be the U.S. debut of the “Public Nuisance” who was last seen securing his WBO European Super Lightweight Title.
Also on the DAZN PPV telecast, Bektemir “Bek” Melikuziev (13-1, 10 KOs) of Sholmbek, Uzbekistan will defend his WBA Intercontinental Super Middleweight Title in a 10-round fight against Pierre Dibombe (22-0-1, 12 KOs) of Nantes, France. Melikuziev destroyed Alantez Fox via stoppage last October, and is ranked the No.10 super middleweight in the world on ESPN’s divisional rankings.
In a fight for the WBA Interim Super Flyweight World Championship, John “Scrappy” Ramirez (13-0, 9 KOs) will challenge Cartago, Costa Rica’s David “Medallita” Jimenez (15-1, 11 KOs). Ramirez is walking into the 12-round combat with confidence after demolishing Ronal Batista last October 2023. Despite an unconventional start in boxing, the undefeated Scrappy Ramirez has had a successful cruise to the top of the rankings defeating top world title contenders.
Opening the DAZN PPV, former Team USA member and No.1-WBC ranked Charles “Bad News” Conwell (18-0, 13 KOs) will make his Golden Boy debut after being formally signed this past February. The undefeated “Bad News” has held several regional titles since his debut in professional boxing in 2017, including the IBF USBA title and the WBC USNBC title.
