Turki Alalshikh wants to buy a British football club and has two top targets

Turki Alalshikh has already made a huge noise in boxing, but is football next?

The 43-year-old Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has energised the noble art with huge investment over the past two years through Riyadh Season.

Alalshikh has paved the way for a massive change in the sport, meaning fights we never even dreamed would happen now take place regularly.

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol, Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou and now Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford are just some of his greatest hits, so far.

But it is not just boxing where Alalshikh has a big interest – he is also a huge football fan.

Turki once owned Spanish side Almeria, and he is now reportedly looking to the UK for his next acquisition – with two clubs apparently being targeted.

Alalshikh sent social media (and a good portion of London) into a frenzy recently when he reacted to a Millwall post about their 2017 play-off final win over Bradford City at Wembley. But the Lions are not the only team he apparently likes the look of.

The clubs Alalshikh likes – revealed

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan told talkSPORT: “I’ve told him and tried to talk him out of Millwall because I don’t think it’s a proper football club, but that’s a different discussion. But it is Millwall, and he likes Southampton.”

“He doesn’t want a club in the north. He wants a club in the south. And Millwall and Southampton are the two clubs that he thinks are interesting to him. It’s not me breaching confidence – he’s asked me to say that.”
